The 2019 AD Giving Back Award is presented to the Bearing and Power Transmission AD Member or Supplier who makes the success and health of their community a priority to their company.  AD’s BPT Division is one of twelve divisions covering industries including electrical, industrial, safety, bearings and power transmission, plumbing, HVAC, building materials and more. AD is the largest contractor and industrial products wholesale buying group in North America. Their 800-plus independent member-owners reside throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

Out of the 800 distributor members and suppliers, IBT was selected as the leader in its industry for giving back to the community. This year, IBT was recognized for its work with Harvesters and Heart to Heart International

Hard work and fun competition

With some hard work and fun competition, IBT has been able to give over 17,000 meals to those in need through their work with Harvesters. This year IBT also established a partnership with Heart to Heart International, a global humanitarian relief organization based here in Kansas City. Heart to Heart does amazing work bringing humanitarian and health crisis relief around the globe.

This is all in addition to the ongoing community efforts they make each year. IBT Headquarters in Merriam, KS as well as their individual 38 branches all participate in giving back. Every year each branch participates in community Christmas projects that help support local families and children with health or medical needs. They also participate in Toys for Tots and organizations like Smile Train who give cleft treatments to those in need.

Encouraging and inspiring

IBT not only offers but encourages their employees to find opportunities to get involved in their community. Seeing the staff show up the way they do is a powerful thing to see! IBT encourages one another to share volunteer and community outreach opportunities through their intranet as well.

IBT even offers five scholarship opportunities each year.  These are awarded to children and grandchildren of IBT employees and each of them goes through an approval process from an outside Jeff Cloud AD giving back award speechboard at the Greater Kansas City Charitable Foundation.  There are five recipients, and each recipient receives $3,000 towards the university, college or trade school of their choice.

Jeff Cloud, IBT President and CEO commented on the award and said, “I am extremely proud of our organization and the focus we maintain in continuing to make a positive impact in our community.  I’m so thankful for the opportunity to lead an organization that not only talks the talk but walks the walk.”

IBT has a history of prioritizing family and community and because of this, it has become a part of the four “foundational pillars” that represent the organization’s core values.

A history of family & community

IBT started as a small family business and 70 years later it still takes great pride in treating all employees, customers, and vendors like family. IBT’s expectation is that every employee makes a positive impact on both their family and the communities they live and work in.

IBT is honored to have received the AD 2019 Giving Back Award. We are excited for 2020 and the opportunities it holds. We are invigorated by this prestigious accolade and look forward to continuing the outreach and service to our communities. With 38 branches spanning the Midwest, that’s a lot of opportunity for outreach with IBT, and we can’t wait to see our reach and impact grow.
