Beat Downtime with Dodge® Food Grade Products

Beat Downtime with Dodge® Food Grade Products

Food producers, don’t let corrosive agents, moisture, or harsh-cleaning chemicals impact your operations. With the average recall costing $10 million, it’s time to reconsider if your current equipment can protect you from unnecessary downtime and expensive repairs.

That’s where Dodge® Food Safe products can help. This IBT supplier offers industry-leading Dodge Food Safe ball bearings and gear reducers resistant to grease washout and corrosion.

Both products received the Ingress Protection (IP) 69 water protection rating, a stringent water intrusion test by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that tests against high temperature and high pressure spray at close proximity.

To meet this rating, a product cannot allow any water past the seal under these extreme test parameters:

  • 176 Fahrenheit
  • 1160 – 1450 psi
  • Distance: 4 – 6 inches
  • Flow rate: 4 gallons per minute
  • 5 revolutions per minute
  • 4 spray positions: 0, 30, 60, and 90 degrees
  • 30 seconds per position

As the first industrial bearings on the market to meet the IP69 requirement without the use of an end cover, they are confident Dodge food-safe products can stand up to the toughest cleaning and sanitation practices. That’s why Dodge Food Safe products offer an unprecedented 1-year warranty against failure due to water ingress.

“Receive peace of mind with Dodge industry-leading food safe products,” said IBT’s Bearing and Gearing Business Development Director Joe Purcell. “These low maintenance products are designed to withstand even the most aggressive cleaning and sanitation environments.”

Dodge Food Grade Bearings

Offered in both standard and stand-off housing, Food Grade ball bearings range in size from ½ inch to 1 15/16

Unlike other bearings, the base metal of the insert is made of 400 series stainless steel and is coated with KleenTec. With a bond strength that exceeds 61,000 psi, the KleenTec coating system prevents harsh alkaline and acids from reaching the base metal of the inner and outer rings.

Other features of the Dodge Food Grade bearings include:

  • Max life cage: prevents grease washout during high-pressure cleaning.
  • H1 food grade lubricant: lubed for life with synthetic food grade lubricant.
  • Hydro armor seal: protects internal rotating elements from water ingress.
  • KleenTec insert: enhanced corrosion resistance from common cleaning agents.

All of these features not only help extend the life of the food grade ball bearing but also reduce maintenance.

Food Grade ball bearings can be used for many different applications including conveyors, mixers, sorters, and packaging in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.

Food Grade Gear Reducers By Dodge

There are two Dodge food grade gear reducers, the Ultra Kleen Tigear-2 and Ultra Kleen Quantis. Maintenance free, these gear reducers are also designed to be breather free. With no pin to open, there’s less chance of causing contamination from spilled oil.

Both gear reducers are engineered to provide operators with reliability even in the harshest of washdown applications.

Ultra Kleen Tigear-2

This single reduction right angle worm stainless steel gear reducer features:

  • 4 case sizes with 1.75” to 3.00” center distances.
  • Two-piece harsh duty output seals.
  • Torque ratings up to 2,300 lb-in.
  • Factory-filled H-1 food grade lubrication.
  • Quill or three-piece coupled input options.

The Ultra Kleen Tigear-2 can be used in conveyors, mixer drives, screw conveyors, pumps, and general machinery in environments with ultraviolet rays, harsh chemicals, oils, food, acids, water immersion, abrasion, and high-pressure washdowns.

Ultra Kleen Quantis

This right angle helical bevel features:

  • 2 case sizes through 5 Hp
  • Torque ratings up to 4,000 lb-in.
  • Factory-filled H-1 food grade lubrication
  • Universal housing for foot or flange mounting
  • Clamp collar sizes: 56C, 140TC, and 180TC

The Ultra Kleen Quantis can be used in conveyors, mixer drives, screw conveyors, pumps, and general industrial machinery in a range of industries including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, paper and forest, and water.
