Longtime IBT mainstay Ron Aupperle, whose most recent assignment has been Vice President, Sales and Marketing, is calling it a career after thirty-six years with the company.
His successor is Mark Byrne, who has recently been installed as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Mr. Byrne comes to IBT with more than 25 years of experience working in industrial manufacturing. During his career he has held many senior management positions while working for Ralston Purina, Purina Mills, Con Agra, Siemens, John Deere and Premium Protein Products.
His industry experience includes food processing (cereals, beef and poultry), grain processing (corn, soybeans and wheat), grain merchandising, animal feeds, pet foods and servicing the feedlot business.
While at Premium Protein Products, Mark was a customer of IBT's Integrated Services Group.
Mark earned a B.S. degree in Marketing from the University of Vermont, and he and his wife, Deirdre, have lived in Kansas City since 1990.
Ron Aupperle about retiring from IBT:
"We bought some property in Durango and will build a place on it, but we will definitely spend time in both places: Durango and Kansas City.
My first job was with Emerson Electric, but when I ended my Army service, I went looking for other work and ended up as an outside sales rep for IBT in Hutchinson, my hometown.
"Two years later, I opened IBT's eleventh branch, in Salina. Then I moved to Tulsa as a regional manager and into CDC in 1984. In the years in Kansas City, I held a number of sales and marketing jobs, becoming Vice President in 1989.
"Steve Cloud talks a lot about loyalty and longevity. I think that sums up my days with IBT in a very real way. I have been proud to work with exceptional people, at the company, in the industry, and among our customers and vendors.
"I have made many friends through the years and it has been a very special experience to be associated with an organization that enjoys a reputation for being well-run. People find IBT very professional to deal with and see it as a premier company.
"I know I'll miss the people. But, I can't wait to just be "Papa"."
Mark Byrne on his view of IBT:
"As it relates to indentifying and understanding customer needs, I believe my experience as an IBT client will help get me up to speed quickly. For 25 years, I sat in the same chair our existing customers and prospective customers sit in every day.
"While buying from IBT, I saw how they were able to bridge the gap between the sales pitch and proposed actual results. Talk is cheap. But, IBT brought action and results on a daily basis to the manufacturing plants that I was responsible for.
"IBT has great people in place throughout the company. My goal is to work with the teams at IBT to identify and eliminate barriers and hurdles. We can collectively enable the company to grow substantially."
