By choosing Ralphs-Pugh rollers from IBT – you have already made a very intelligent choice. But, you are only partially down the road to true conveyor roller perfection

The rollers need to be matched carefully to the job conditions and application challenges. The right roller will be neither under-engineered or over engineered for the job. It will be selected for its ability to stand up under the work environment. It will be chosen to give you long life and operate without any problems.

Key considerations include:

  • Size of roller: Diameters may range from under 1″ to over 3″
  • Type of shaft: It can be round or hexagonal – and are also available in a variety of sizes
  • Length: Almost the right length doesn’t do it. Measure carefully (and repeatedly)
  • Roller tube material: Choose between plastic, urethane covered, carbon steel, galvanized steel, or stainless steel
  • Bearing: type, size, raceways, housings, mountings – all must be carefully reviewed. Availability includes steel balls in plastic housings, zinc-plated or stainless steel commercial grade, ABEC-1 precision units, or plastic on plastic styles.
  • Chemical and Moisture Resistance: Water resistance – especially wash downs. Resistance to a variety of chemicals: acidic, corrosive, and harsh solvents and others.
  • Weight Bearing Capacity: From under 25 pounds – to over 3,000 pounds.
