The IBT Industrial Solutions community today is honoring the life of its CEO and President, Mark Byrne.
Byrne passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2015 from injuries sustained in a fall near his home in Kansas City, Missouri. A service was held in his honor at Mission Hills Country Club on Friday, March 13, 2015. He is survived by 2 sisters and 4 nephews.
“Mark will be greatly missed,” said Stephen Cloud, IBT’s Chairman of the Board. “We are forever indebted to him, for all he’s accomplished here.”
Cloud will temporarily assume Byrne’s duties as CEO and President of the company, while the Board determines how to proceed with filling the role.
Byrne joined the IBT team in 2008 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and immediately made an impact. He helped navigate the company through the recession of 2009-2010 by cutting costs and implementing new systems to improve productivity and efficiency.
“Mark came into IBT with one mission—to ensure IBT’s success,” Cloud said. “He really changed how we run the company. He got us back to profitability following the recession, and we’ve been profitable ever since.”
In 2011, he was promoted to CEO and President of the company, where he earned a reputation with both employees and suppliers as a hands-off manager who gave company leaders the flexibility to solve their departmental challenges in their own style.
“What I loved about working with Mark was his honesty, his forthrightness, and his no-nonsense approach to doing business,” Cloud said. “He was a great friend and mentor to me, and to all of my sons, and he mentored many employees here at the company.”
IBT flew the headquarters flag at half-mast in honor of Byrne’s legacy.
