Loctite® 243™ and Loctite® 263™ prevent fastener loosening caused by shock, vibration and temperature-induced expansion and contraction. Loctite 243 is a blue, medium-strength, thixotropic liquid threadlocker that can be disassembled using standard hand tools. Loctite 263 is a red, high strength, thixotropic threadlocker for applications where permanent assembly is required. Both products provide a leakproof, corrosion-free seal of the threads.
Loctite 243 Primerless Medium Strength Threadlocker
Loctite 243 Threadlocker is designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners between 1/4″ and 3/4″ (6 to 20 mm), which require normal disassembly with standard hand tools. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. The thixotropic nature of Loctite 243 reduces the migration of liquid product after application to the substrate.
Loctite 243 provides robust curing performance. It not only works on active metals (e.g. brass, copper) but also on passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The product offers high temperature performance and oil tolerance. It tolerates minor surface contaminations from various oils, such as cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion and protection fluids.
Loctite 243 is the recommended medium strength substitute for Loctite 2440TM.
Loctite 263 Primerless High Strength Threadlocker
Loctite 263 is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. Loctite 263 is particularly suited for heavy duty applications such as studs into motor housings, nuts onto studs in pump housings and other fasteners where high strength is required.
