Need to replace a failed industrial hose assembly—fast? IBT Industrial Solutions now offers emergency hose replacement services in as little as 15 minutes—with their new, dedicated Hose Service Counter at the Merriam, Kansas branch.
Replacements in as little as 15 minutes
Customers can now bring their failed hose assemblies directly to the new Hose Service Counter in Merriam for on-the-spot diagnosis and replacement. The team will ask a few questions, pull the new parts from inventory, and completely replace the failed assembly with a new hose and fittings to get you up and running.
Our hose professionals also take the time to analyze the failure and make recommendations for the proper hose or fitting, where it makes sense.
“We try to find out why the hose failed,” said Michael Gebauer, the Production Manager for IBT. “For example, someone might be using a 2,000 psi-rated hose in a 5,000 psi application, and not even realize it. In that case, it makes sense to switch to a higher-pressure rated hose—otherwise the assembly will continue to fail.”
$1 million inventory in stock
IBT’s hose shop covers 20,000 sq. ft. of space, and stocks over $1 million in hose inventory. “We carry over 1,500 SKU’s of fittings and adapters alone,” said Tim West, the Business Group Director of IBT’s Industrial Rubber Products Group. The facility carries hose and adapters for:
- Air
- Chemicals
- Water
- Steam
- Bulk transfer
- Hydraulics
- Food-grade
- Petroleum transfer
- Washdown
- Multipurpose
- PVC
- Fire and mill
- Ducting
Testing for quality
The team can also quality-test the new hose assembly, using a stainless steel bench that pressure-tests up to 24,000 psi. In addition, IBT can re-certify existing hose assemblies.
“We’re a Continental ContiTech Star Distributor,” West said. “We’re also certified annually by UL, and use NAHAD recommended techniques for quality control and assembly,” referring to the global safety organization (formerly known as Underwriters Laboratories) that performs safety-related certification, validation, testing, inspection, auditing, advising and training services to manufacturers and distributors.
Other products for hose failure cleanup
Because hose assembly failures create housekeeping issues, the team also stocks emergency cleanup products at the new Service Counter.
“When a hose leaks at 5,000 psi, it can spray all over the floor and make a mess,” said IBT Hose Shop Supervisor Jesse Dominguez. “We carry everything you need for clean up, and you can pick it up right here while we replace your hose assembly,” including:
- Replacement hydraulic fluid
- “Oil dry”—to clean up the mess
- Absorbent pads
