Tough Bearings From Isostatic Industries

Tough Bearings From Isostatic Industries

Something turning at 9500 rpm is moving fast. That is just under the speed of an average jet engine. Something that lasts through 456 million revolutions without any interruption or without needing any maintenance is pretty durable.
That is why Isostatic Industries, a leading supplier of bronze self lubricating sintered bronze bearings, is proud of a recent documented performance test of one of its bearings. The bearing, three quarters of an inch long (about 19 millimeters) and nine-sixteenths of an inch in diameter (about 14.25 mm) piled up 800 consecutive hours without depleting the oil content. There was also no sign of scoring or wear to the shaft or bearing.
Isostatic Industries has one of the largest inventories in the world of bronze bearings in all standard sizes. They are also the value leader in TU Self Lubricating Bearings. These bearings offer the mechanical strength of steel, the heat dispersion of bronze and the low friction of PTFE.
The key benefits of TU bearings include:

  • High load capacity
  • Self-lubricating under dry conditions
  • Low static and dynamic coefficient of friction (no “stick-slip” effect)
  • Minimum wear and excellent operating life
  • High chemical resistance and capability
  • Wide range of operating temperatures
  • Good thermal conductivity
  • Good electrical conductivity
  • Ease of fitting
  • Excellent performance/cost ratio

Sintered bronze bearing technology has existed for over 80 years. Isostatic Oilube sintered bronze bearings are a very economical alternative to other bearing materials and designs. Providing friction relief and wear protection for rotating components are the two main jobs for a bearing. Using the right bearing in the right place can lengthen equipment life, reduce the instances of unplanned maintenance and generally increase productivity.
When most people think “bearing” they usually think in terms of “ball” or “roller.” And, in fact, the vast majority of applications may require these types of somewhat sophisticated devices to operate most effectively.  But not all devices. Sintered bronze bearings are self lubricating which reduces maintenance requirements. As a result, those hard to reach places that don’t require regular attention are a perfect place to use them.
IBT is a distributor of Isostatic Industries products and has experienced continuing success in working with both OEM accounts and with MRO applications.
